Similar to Nic's build, Keopi's codec is also quite popular. It's an excellent open-source, free video codec available as a viable and popular alternative to DivX video. (See the name spelled backwards.) The XviD codec is able to playback highly compressed video format and quickly becoming the best video encoding and decoding method.

XviD works on most modern DVD players, Wndows Media Player and a host of other media playing devices. XviD offers more sharpness in the picture detail and overall a better performance.
